History of Spa Luna
Samana Benedetti started Spa Luna as a day spa in the village of Makawao in 1989 . Frustrated at her inability to hire Estheticians for the spa that used her particular facial style, Samana contacted state board and opened her own school for estheticians. Samana’s passion for teaching, coupled with the demand for quality instruction, inspired the formation of the Spa Luna Holistic School. Spa Luna’s reputation quickly spread through the islands, spurred by feedback from the major resorts and satisfied students.
Spa Luna’s reputation has since gone international, a 98% student pass rate on the state board exams and Spa Luna graduates managing or working in almost every resort in Hawaii, helps us recruit students from the islands, mainland USA, Europe, and Asia for most every class.
The holistic philosophy, guided by the belief that the universe and living nature are stronger when interacting, lays the foundation for all the Spa Luna programs. This philosophy, coupled with sound morality, integrity, and superior education, provides the basis for outstanding estheticians, and all-around better people. Spa Luna started with an 800 sq ft studio in Makawao. It is now located in the Maui Mall, in 3400 sq ft of space.
