Trigger Point Workshop

An exciting new series of workshops has been designed for you, the practicing professional or student esthetician, cosmetologist or massage therapist. Using an innovative approach focusing on techniques and the conditions and muscles they address, you will learn how to treat for trigger points.

Based on Dr. Janet Travell`s widely accepted work, we know that trigger points can cause a long list of common aches and pains and often even nagging unresolved symptoms including: difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, a sore throat without infection, a persistent tickle in the throat, a lump in throat upon swallowing, vision impairment, vertigo, nausea, tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and more.

The series includes six four hour workshops that will provide the attendee with a powerful professional advantage in today's competitive world. Within your professional scope of practice, learning trigger point release will change your life.

The curriculum is based on the leading texts and the most up-to-date research. We will explore the muscles and soft tissues of the neck and head, where trigger points too often create tension headaches, tooth aches, ear aches, and even restrict the jaw, vision and breathing. This series will help you understand trigger points: the physiology, pathophysiology and perpetuating factors involved in myofascial trigger points. You will learn how to assess and most importantly, you will learn how to treat trigger points.

Each workshop will include a slideshow with rich, vibrant images to understand and better visualize the anatomical structures. We will look at insightful pictures, photographs, diagrams, tables and charts from leading atlas's, including:

  • Six four hour workshops covering three Sundays with Jeff Sims
  • Each workshop will include a slide show with rich, vibrant images to understand and better visualize the anatomical structures.
  • Netter`s Atlas of Human Anatomy
  • Theime`s Atlas of Anatomy
  • McMinn`s Color Atlas of Human Anatomy
  • Neumann`s Kinesiology of the Musculoskeletal System

Practice, Practice, Practice

You will learn by doing as there will be a ton of technique demonstrated and practiced including myofascial and trigger point release, and a variety of stretching techniques (e.g., MET, PNF, AIS, CRAC, etc.). The workshops are designed for the attendee to be involved in (giving and receiving) hands-on activities for most of each workshop. The series is based on the structural regions and functions of the head and neck. Each includes four classroom hours.
